We are a band who play both secular & Christian music and we are available for anyone to book.
In the knowledge that God has blessed us with our various talents we feel led to share the Gospel
in our music.
To achieve this we seek to play at venues where our music has the widest audience;
e.g. pubs, clubs, open-air festivals, private functions, community events as well as Christian services.
By co-operating with other musicians from outside of the band we have been able to extend our range of
venues and take on more ambitious events.
Our Mission
- To bring God’s message of salvation and eternal life to all
- To share our faith with those we meet
- To celebrate the Christian life
Why 'A & E'
- Are these the only chords we know? - No, but we like the sound they make!
- Accident & Emergency? - Yes, we frequently have them but only the musical kind!
- Is our Drummer really a Doctor? - Yes, let him through please!
- Acclaim & Exult the Lord our God? - Yes, we seek to do so in our music.
Our Music
William Booth asked; “why should the devil have all the good music?”
Which is why we have reclaimed some rock/blues standards and rewritten
the words where they don’t measure up? We also write our own songs that
reflect the Bible’s teachings and our personal testimonies.
The style of our material was not initially designed to be part of mainstream worship music,
instead we sought to complement this by spreading the Message using rock and roll. Lately, we
have been leading informal worship at Ivybridge Methodist Church by mixing Bob Dylan’s
Knocking on Heavens Door & the traditional gospel song, Wayfaring Stranger with modern worship
songs including Blessed be Your name & Beautiful Saviour.
We are blending new material with our rock and blues numbers to refresh our repertoire so as
to find a diversity of expression in our music. Original songs continue to play a key part in
our set and a profile of some of these is given below.
In January 2006 we recorded a cd to capture the A & E sound and some of the numbers we regularly perform.
You can listen to some tracks by clicking on the links.
- Silverado (studio recording) - Jesus’ ministry is related through the eyes of Judas,
culminating in the betrayal of his friend and the realisation that he can’t give back the silver coins to regain
what he has lost
- Mary, Mary (studio recording) - Three women who we know well from the New Testament with very different experiences
of Christ’s love
- Sanctuary (studio recording) - when we feel alone in the world God offers us his peace and a place of refuge,
even when we seek it elsewhere.
- The Saviour - Jesus seeking us out to bless us and care for us in our weakness and despair.
- The Gate (home recording) - Acknowleding Jesus' presence in our everyday lives on route
to our final destination
