The church is a Grade 2 listed building. It was built between 1874 and 1876 to replace a previous Methodist Chapel by the generosity
of John Allen, a church member and owner of Stowford Paper Mill.
In 1937 a new schoolroom was added on land at the side of the church (behind the church from this angle), and in 1983 a further room
and a kitchen were added between the schoolroom and the church.
In 1993, a redevelopment saw a new central access; a concourse with servery, to be used as an overspill area or a separate meeting area;
a gallery and smaller rooms above the concourse with a view of the church, which is used as a crèche on Sundays and a meeting room during
the week; and space for a library. The pews were subsequently removed and replaced by moveable chairs; the floor was carpeted and now we
have a multi purpose space. Additional building developments are now underway....
